Dogs that start scratching in the winter or even fall, are almost certainly suffering from dry skin. Why?  Well, it's not necessarily the cold weather that is drying their skin out but more likely the forced air heating in your home.

 

In our blend, we use different essential oils that are beneficial to skin irritations or allergies. While helping to fight infection and good for all skin and hair conditions, we use vitamin E it helps with all itchy skin problems.

These are the essential oils & vitamins used and their benefits.

 

Chamomile: This oil is very effective in controlling skin irritations caused by allergies, eczema, rashes, etc. It is a good oil for healing burns as well.

 

Tea Tree: Used to help dogs with skin irritation and infections caused by allergies. it is an effective antiseptic oil that can disinfect and help fight bacterial infections.

 

Jojoba oil: It closely resembles sebum, making it an excellent treatment for psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, and all skin and hair conditions

 

Vitamin E:  Dogs with dry or itchy skin or skin and ear allergies could benefit from Vitamin E if a dog's skin problems are localized, vitamin E oil can also be applied directly to the skin

 

For those who home wash their pups, try using this in the rinse water.

 

Apple Cider Rinse: Apple cider vinegar has many properties used for washing, refreshing, relieving hotspots, soothing dry itchy skin, and even to stop your dog from licking his skin or paws incessantly.

Mix 1 ounce of vinegar to 8 ounces of water. 

 

Our Itch Away Blend will help by applying 2-4 drops on the affected area. This will help with the itching and redness. 

 

Wait a couple of hours to re-apply. 

If symptoms persist for more than two weeks, take your dog to the veterinarian for an evaluation.
